PFC circuit

PFC is an abbreviation in English; its full name is "Power Factor Correction", which means "power factor correction"; it is a very important parameter in the power supply. The full name is power factor correction, or PFC for short. Power is a measure of the transfer rate of energy. In a DC circuit, it is the product of the sum of voltage V and current A. Simply put, the power factor refers to the relationship between the effective power and the total power consumption (apparent power). Basically, the power factor can measure the degree of effective use of electricity. When the value of the power factor is larger, it represents the power utilization the higher the rate. The maximum power factor is 1, and it is impossible to exceed 1, which is an indicator of the effective utilization of electricity.

The typical PFC circuit topology uses MOSFET to build a fast recovery diode topology. In order to effectively improve the power factor of the diode rectifier side, a DC/DC conversion part is added after the diode to control the conversion of voltage and current and increase the power factor of the input end of the system. In theory, the subsequent DC conversion can be any DC conversion currently known, but the most common one is a PFC converter based on a Boost circuit. The source of the switch tube used in the Boost circuit is grounded, which is easier to drive than other circuit topologies and has a relatively simple circuit topology. Our company provides ultra-fast recovery diodes with low forward voltage drop and ultra-low on-resistance VDMOS to meet the needs of PFC power correction circuits.
